Moving Day...

Is there anything we dread like moving?
All the packing and loading and unloading and unpacking...
But in moving my office across town this week I realized something, role specialization really works! I mean I know it works and I often speak about how it works, but after calling a friend of mine who works with an office furniture, er, office "interiors" business; He really made the move easy. At least easier than I had been thinking it might be.

A big truck, a couple furniture moving specialists, and 2 hours later: I'm moved!
Sort of, now I just have to unpack...The lesson?
This is the marketplace of "role specialization." That is, what you do potentially better than anyone else. Don't try to save a few bucks and do it all yourself, your time is more valuable than we sometimes give it credit for .
Thanks Mark!

Going...Going...GOALS!

Well we said it was available FREE "for a LIMITED TIME ONLY!"
We just didn't know how many of you would take advantage of it.
This week alone over 5000 copies of UNCOMMON GOALS: The E Book were downloaded from our site. That's more than have been downloaded over the past few months TOTAL! Thanks for an overwhelming response. Soon it goes back on the "for sale" shelf. But for a few more days, you can still grab yours for free at www.MichaelYork.com

Would those 5000 have paid a couple dollars for the book? Probably, maybe not? Who knows. But I do know that anytime you or I create something of VALUE and give it away, people will be attracted to you. And then it's up to us to make that pay off in this NOW economy. What if one of those individuals is a decision-maker or CEO who hires me to speak...or better still, we agree to a consulting retainer over several months? What's that worth?
It's happened before, and I'm confident it will again.
Create value. Find a way to GIVE IT AWAY (at least a sample of what you do). When the marketplace finds out, if they like it, they'll pay you well for it.

Space (Coast) Travel...

Brevard, Florida...
Just down the coast from the Cape that launched a man to the moon. I love the space program. Always have. The history and all the compelling stories.

And I love traveling to this area. It always brings back memories of lying in my Grandmother's floor and watching that black and white (I'm not really that old, we had a color TV but Grandma resisted...) as Astronaut Armstrong bounced onto the surface of the moon.

I'm speaking to a Breakfast meeting of "entrepreneurial captains" in the morning, but tonight
here I am in my hotel room, all these years later, watching the NASA channel on TV...recalling those amazing words from President Kennedy in 1961, "We CHOOSE to go to the moon."
Choose BIG! And commit to going there. Even if your dream starts out in black & white, as long as you can see it and pursue it, one day you can live it...in COLOR!
One small step at a time.

p.s. Want to see the pictures from our BIG SHOW... http://mlb.breakfastclubamerica.com/Beta/photos.php

NOW: The "Good News"Economy!

Welcome Back...to the most sophisticated marketplace the world has ever known.
The NOW news is in (and good again)! Calendar year 2005 economic growth came in at a 3.5% (REAL) pace. In current dollars U.S. economic output in 2005 was at a $12.7 TRILLION annual pace. Just in case you didn't get that number, that's the LARGEST "cash flow" opportunity in a LOONNNNGGG time for business owners and captains of enterprise.

What does that mean?
It means the money's out there (it's not all buried in a mattress in Bentonville, ARK), so how much do you want and what are you willing to exchange for it? Do something amazing and the marketplace will notice and pay you well for it. Do something BORING and you're just another roadside motel on the way to somewhere (else).

Profits are better than wages. Work on crafting a better "show" and we'll all pay to get in.
If you want my NEW NOW Economy update, it's available NOW at www.MichaelYork.com/store.asp
