We Still Need Leaders...

Speaking for a couple of days
at a Leadership Conference,
and thinking about what a cliche' the word
LEADERSHIP has become of late.

Sad, but true.
Every speaker's got a talk on leadership.
Every book's got 3 steps or 5 keys or 7 ways to lead...or so it seems.

What's really exciting is studying LEADERS,
examples of real people who did amazing things
by instructing, inspiring, powerfully communicating their vision
to a team or group or organization.
I love speaking in leadership sessions with leaders and those aspiring to be.

True leadership today can't be just having "manager"
on your business card.
It can't be a popularity contest or making your case
for all your years of experience...
This marketplace doesn't care how many years
you've been doing whatever you do.

The customer or the worker or the soldier
or the salesman doesn't care how good you USED TO BE,
they want to know how good you'll be next week!

Be a good student.
Commit to becoming a Leader.
No matter what you do.
The marketplace and the people around you will notice.

Bonjour' from Paris!

Vive' La France...and Viva Las Vegas!

I love the Paris hotel in Vegas, I'm in town for a couple days
and that's where I'm doing my part for the greater good
of the NOW Economy! Don't know if you've been here lately,
but they're leaving the lights on all night long in Vegas
(something my Dad used to get really upset at me about when I was growing up).

Today I rode the monorail over to see the new
2.7 BILLION Dollar Wynn Hotel...
resort, golf course and casino!
And that doesn't even begin to describe all it is.
All the big names have a "boutique" in the hotel
in a hallway that looks like Rodeo' Drive in Beverly Hills!
It's HUGE with a capital "HU!"
Hint:It has a Ferrari dealership inside the hotel!

How many of you thought that's exactly what Vegas needed...
Another casino!
But The Wynn isn't just another casino, obviously.

I've said it before, one thing you'll never hear in Las Vegas is
"how bad the economy is."
Vegas knows the secret to "wynning" in this
"emotional" economy where spending money feels good.

Wish more organizations would figure it out...
Whatever you sell is BORING.
And whatever I sell is BORING...
unless you or I find a way to make it REMARKABLE
in the eyes of the consumer.
I think Steve Wynn did.
Boo-Yah!
