Bulls (and Leaders) in The Triangle

Raleigh, NC and the surrounding area is known simply as The Triangle.
That's where I find myself this day with a group of business leaders I'll be addressing later this morning. Last night at our PM event I got to hobnob with ballplayers. You know the "no crying in baseball" baseball players, more specifically the BULLS! The Bulls...as in the legend of the Durham Bulls, made famous by Kevin Costner and the classic movie Bull Durham.

Yep, I got my Bulls cap from the pro shop, ate in the clubhouse, and hung out in the dugout.

I even got to do a "brief" local TV interview as the "famous" speaker in attendance. I'm sure no one watching the local news cared, but my media skills were sought out by new Bulls manager Charlie Montoya in his first appearance in town. Charlie and I swapped a couple of stories and laughed about business, baseball, and why no one is allowed on the infield grass (it's pristine!). Big thanks to all and best to Charlie and the Bulls on the upcoming season.

How are you preparing for your next "season?"
One of the great business lessons I learned over my career was from Tom Peters, "All work is PROJECT work." Not true, I reasoned, although I know what he meant. All work SHOULD be project work, meaning a beginning and yep, even an ENDING (season over), but it isn't. Most people go to work every day because it's what most people do...work, or going to work. Which in most cases isn't really work at all it's just a place to go where you don't get the results you really want. RE-THINK your work...what project are you working on? What season is coming up for you? And what results are you preparing for?
Play ball!
